چکیده
Performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) provides a robust alternative to traditional design. PBEE enables engineers estimate expected damage, repair costs, and economic losses due downtime for candidate design, potentially leading novel new designs or retrofit solutions. With the increasing application of light-frame structural systems, such as cold-formed steel (CFS) panels, in residential commercial construction, it is necessary develop employ fragility functions these systems enable PBEE. In this regard, set was previously developed by researchers based on series monotonic cyclic tests CFS framed shear walls with wood panel sheathing, flat strap X-bracing, sheet sheathing. Recently, senior author has led development large database wall tests, including 617 conducted last 20 years from 25 primary sources. Based wider database, are re-evaluated. The provide updated knowledge per FEMA P-58 methodology recommended future use.

Piecewise Function Hysteretic Model for Cold-Formed Steel Shear Walls with Reinforced End Studs
Cold-formed steel (CFS) shear walls with concrete-filled rectangular steel tube (CFRST) columns as end studs can upgrade the performance of mid-rise CFS structures, such as the vertical bearing capacity, anti-overturning ability, shear strength, and fire resistance properties, thereby enhancing the safety of structures. A theoretical hysteretic model is established according to a previous exper...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Intermediate Beams in Steel Plate Shear Walls
This paper presents some preliminary results of an ongoing research whose objective is to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate beams (i.e., the beams other than those at the roof and foundation levels) in multi-story steel plate shear walls (SPSWs). Of primary interest is the determination of the strength level needed to avoid the formation of in-span plastic hinges, a relevant prac...
متن کاملModeling the seismic response of cold-formed steel framed buildings: model development for the CFS-NEES building
The objective of this paper is to investigate the response of a cold-formed steel framed building subjected to earthquake excitation primarily through nonlinear time history analysis employing the incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) framework. The two-story archetype building from the Cold-Formed Steel – Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (CFS-NEES) project is analyzed using OpenSees....
متن کاملSeismic Performance Assessment of Pre-70 RC Frame Buildings with FEMA P-58
Abstract—Past earthquakes have shown that seismic events may incur large economic losses in buildings. FEMA P-58 provides engineers a practical tool for the performance seismic assessment of buildings. In this study, FEMA P-58 is applied to two typical Italian pre-1970 reinforced concrete frame buildings, characterized by plain rebars as steel reinforcement and masonry infills and partitions. G...
متن کاملOn Cold-Formed Steel Construction
Powder-actuated (also referred to as low velocity or powder-driven) fasteners are commonly used to attach cold-formed steel framing members, usually a track, to a concrete or structural steel support. Although commonly used, their behavior is less well understood than other fasteners such as screws, bolts and welds. The AISI Cold-Formed Steel Design Manual does not explicitly address powder act...
